
Edward Patrick McNamara 1881 - 1955
Respected Bell Resident Dies
The news of the passing of the late Edward Patrick McNamara on January 19 at Banyo, one of Bell's best known and respected citizens, was received with deep regret in the Bell district.
Although he had been sick over the past
few months, his death came as a shock to relatives and
friends.
Gayndah Born
He was born at Gayndah 74 years ago and was
the fourth son of the late Mr. and Mrs. James McNamara, who were early
pioneers in the Jandowae district.
In 1910 he married Miss Annabelle Fletcher, and
they carried on mixed farming at their property
"Strathgyle", Spring Flat. Mrs. McNamara pre-deceased him.
Of the marriage his son Neil ("Strathgyle") and only
daughter Mary ( Mrs. Roy Dun, Moola) survive him.

Ted McNamara married Sheffield,
England born school teacher Elsie Large at Nudgee
Methodist Church, 28 January 1948. The marriage produced
one child, Clifford Noel.

Keen District Supporter
Mr. McNamara always took a keen interest
in the welfare of the district, and readily gave his
assistance and support. He was past president and trustee
of the Bell race reserve and was a member of the Banyo
Bowling Club.
Some years ago he married Miss Elsie
Large of Banyo, and she and a young son, Clifford
survive him.
Mt. Thompson Service
Surviving brothers and sisters are
Jim (Jandowae), William
(Brisbane), Frank (Jandowae), Charles
(Kingaroy), and Mesdames Cherry
(Gayndah) and Fontaine (Richmond). One brother Jack predeceased
him.
The funeral moved to the Mt. Thompson Crematorium, where
the last rights were performed by a Minister of the
Methodist Church, Reverend William C. Kleindienst.
